Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in school settings
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive curriculum strategies
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Ability to assess, plan, and modify instruction based on individual student needs
- Collaborative mindset and a passion for advancing inclusive education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials using accessible formats (such as Braille, large print, and audio)
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs to design individualized educational programs (IEPs)
- Provide training and support in assistive devices and technology for students and staff
- Partner with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure educational access
- Maintain accurate records and regular communication regarding student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and ongoing team collaboration
