Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in an educational setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with assistive technology, braille instruction, and adaptive strategies
- Compassion, patience, and creativity in adapting curriculum and materials
- Willingness to travel within the assigned school district as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and specialized technology
- Consult with teachers and staff to adapt classroom materials and foster inclusive instructional practices
- Assess student strengths and areas of need, monitoring progress and adjusting interventions
- Participate in evaluations, meetings, and collaborative planning sessions
- Serve as a resource for families, offering support and information to ensure student success
