Desired Background & Qualifications:
- Current certification/licensure appropriate for Visually Impaired teaching
- Prior experience working with visually impaired or blind students, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to create and adapt materials for various visual needs, including Braille, large print, and assistive technology
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Passion for advocacy and inclusion within education
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students to determine appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress
- Deliver instruction in core academic subjects, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Train and support classroom teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion
- Collaborate closely with families, related service providers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize specialized technology and materials to enhance student learning
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education
