This onsite contract opportunity, located near Columbus, GA, is scheduled to run from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, with possible days for pre- and post-planning. This position offers full-time hours (at least 37.5 per week) but there may be flexibility for part-time arrangements, depending on availability and district needs.
You’ll have the chance to work with a caseload tailored to your experience and age group preferences, as the district values matching candidates to students where they can make the greatest impact. Thorough daily documentation of services delivered is required to ensure consistent, high-quality support for students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Georgia Educator Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired is required
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong organizational skills to complete daily service logs
- Adaptability to work with varying age groups as determined with district interviewers
- Commitment to onsite services (remote/VOCO not applicable for this role)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and other specialists to develop and implement student IEPs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff consultations, and professional development
- Support students in achieving greater independence and educational success
