Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Fortson, GA
Specialize in supporting students with visual impairments? An exciting contract opportunity awaits for an educator experienced in serving students who are visually impaired, working onsite at a vibrant school community in Georgia for the 2026-2027 academic year.
This full-time position runs from early August through late May, with a schedule of at least 37.5 hours per week. Open to those who can commit full-time, but may consider part-time options depending on preference and district needs. As caseload assignments are tailored based on district and candidate input, there is an opportunity to share your preferences and experiences regarding age groups and settings during the interview process. The role does require diligent daily service documentation—attention to detail is a must.
What you’ll need to bring:
- Active Georgia Educator Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Hands-on experience working as a TVI, ideally within school environments
- Strong communication and collaborative skills for consultation with educational teams and families
- Comfort and commitment to maintaining accurate daily logs of services provided
- Willingness to work entirely onsite (virtual/VOCO candidates are not being considered)
You’ll be responsible for:
- Delivering direct and consultative instruction for students with visual impairments
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support students’ access to curriculum
- Developing and modifying instructional materials to promote inclusion and independence
- Assisting with orientation and mobility support, and providing training to staff as needed
