Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid and active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications required
- Demonstrated experience supporting children with visual impairments in a K-12 educational setting
- Strong understanding of specialized instruction methods, accessible curriculum development, and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet a variety of needs and learning styles
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 20-23 students with visual impairments
- Assess student abilities and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each learner’s goals
- Coordinate and collaborate with classroom teachers, related services, and families to facilitate access to the general curriculum
- Implement instructional strategies and provide resources to maximize student independence and success
- Monitor progress, maintain detailed documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
