Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students, or eligibility for credentialing
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching methods
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and student independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and develop lesson plans that maximize learning and accessibility
- Instruct visually impaired students individually or in small groups, using specialized techniques and materials
- Introduce and support the use of assistive technology and accessible classroom resources
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and ensure instruction is inclusive
- Provide training and guidance to school personnel, parents, and caregivers on best practices
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational goal setting and progress monitoring
