Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or Visual Impairments credential (CA or eligible for CA certification)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field
  • Experience adapting curriculum and materials using Braille, large print, or assistive technology
  • Understanding of IEP development, assessment, and progress monitoring for students with visual impairments
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and parents
  • Ability to travel between school sites if needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in various classroom settings
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each student’s unique needs
  • Adapt and modify classroom materials, ensuring accessibility through Braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
  • Participate in IEP meetings, write progress reports, and communicate student progress effectively
  • Offer training and support to school staff and families on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
  • Foster an engaging, positive environment that helps each student build independence and confidence
