Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Forney, Texas, just east of Dallas. This full-time, district-wide position begins August 12, 2026, with the district hoping to have someone in place by August 5 to allow time for campus visits and reviewing IEPs before students return.
Qualifications:
• Active Texas Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification/licensure
• Experience providing direct and consultative vision services in a school setting preferred
• Knowledge of Braille instruction and accessible instructional materials
• Experience completing vision-related evaluations and collaborating with IEP teams
• Familiarity with Monarch devices or willingness to learn
• Strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instruction and consultative services to students with visual impairments across the district
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials, including Braille materials and assignments
• Conduct evaluations and contribute to eligibility and IEP processes
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success and classroom accessibility
• Assist students with the use and manipulation of instructional materials and assistive technology
• Support students with Braille instruction and other vision-related educational needs across varying grade levels
