Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts Visually Impaired Teacher License is required.
- Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology and braille instruction.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and educational teams.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, utilizing braille, assistive technology, and tailored resources.
- Assess students’ strengths, needs, and progress, adapting instruction to meet educational goals and IEP requirements.
- Consult with educators and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place.
- Guide students in developing independence, orientation, mobility, and adaptive daily living skills.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest instructional strategies and assistive technologies for visually impaired students.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support.
