Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid MA Visually Impaired teaching license
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and other educational professionals
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills to tailor instruction and materials
- Familiarity with assistive technology and braille is highly preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and methods to individual student needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure accessible learning environments
- Conduct assessments and contribute to the development and monitoring of IEPs
- Advocate for students’ access and accommodations, and assist in training staff on best practices
- Support students in developing skills for academic, social, and daily life success
- Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to stakeholders
