Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairments
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support students, families, and staff
- Ability to assess student needs, develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and monitor progress
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technology
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and educational needs
- Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Offer consultative services and resources for staff and families to ensure effective accommodations
- Advocate for students’ needs to foster full participation in school activities and the broader community
