Key skills and qualifications:
- Valid teaching license with certification in Visual Impairment
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in similar roles supporting students with low vision or blindness
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum materials (including Braille and tactile resources)
- Ability to assess diverse learning needs and provide personalized instruction
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans in collaboration with students, families, and staff
- Modify and adapt curriculum for accessibility, including use of assistive technology and alternative formats
- Deliver direct instruction in areas such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living skills
- Partner with classroom educators and support staff to foster an inclusive, equitable learning environment
- Provide evaluation, documentation, and regular progress updates for students on caseload
- Serve as an advocate for students’ unique needs within the educational team
