Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and visually impaired certification required
- Active Louisiana DOE Certification and licensure in candidate’s current state
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (elementary, secondary, or special education settings)
- Demonstrated expertise with assistive technology and Braille instruction
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with orientation and mobility training preferred
- Liability insurance (1099 position)
- Successful completion of district drug screen, fingerprints, and agency credentialing
- Teletherapy experience and Louisiana school familiarity is essential
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and adaptive services for visually impaired students
- Source specialized materials and collaborate with classroom teachers
- Offer professional development for staff on visual impairment supports
- Maintain communication with the Louisiana Department of Education
