As a specialist in visual impairment, you will play a critical role in delivering tailored instruction and advocating for the needs of students with visual challenges. Your expertise will help ensure each student receives the appropriate resources and accommodations for academic success.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher)
- Experience working with students across a wide age range is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of current educational strategies and methods relevant to visually impaired learners
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in ARD meetings as needed
- Strong communication, organization, and assessment skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized educational plans according to district and student needs
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
- Prepare for and actively contribute to ARD meetings
- Work closely with teachers, families, and other specialists to facilitate student success
Additional Details:
- Full-time contract, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours/week
- Three available openings for the academic year (August 10, 2026 – May 27, 2027)
