- Ability to design and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals specific to visual impairment
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to various educational settings and student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, supporting their access to the curriculum
- Assess functional vision and learning media to inform individualized planning and instructional strategies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service personnel, and families to promote inclusive practices and maximize student independence
- Develop and adapt educational materials using accessible formats, such as large print, audio, or tactile graphics
- Deliver instruction in compensatory skills, orientation and mobility (with appropriate certification), and use of assistive technology
- Participate in IEP meetings, document progress, and advocate for student needs within educational settings
