Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with Visual Impairment endorsement
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and adaptive technology for accessibility
- Ability to develop and modify instructional materials to accommodate individualized learning needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to meeting diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to development and implementation of IEPs
- Adapt classroom materials, ensuring accessibility and equitable learning opportunities
- Provide orientation and mobility training to facilitate student independence
- Serve as a resource for fellow educators and families, advising on best practices and accessible resources
- Collaborate regularly with support staff, therapists, and administrators for holistic student support
- Participate in professional development to remain current with instructional strategies and technology
