Key Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching certification with an endorsement or credential in teaching students with visual impairments
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and the use of adaptive technology for visual impairments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and parents
- Ability to travel between sites as needed, if multiple schools are assigned
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and track progress toward IEP goals
- Select and modify instructional materials and strategies to best suit each learner
- Offer consultation and training to staff and families regarding adaptive tools and techniques
- Advocate for the needs of visually impaired students within the school setting
- Maintain accurate student records and required documentation
