Make a meaningful impact as a Visually Impaired Teacher in a dynamic educational environment near Seattle, WA. In this contract position, you'll collaborate with educators and families, providing specialized instruction and support to help visually impaired students access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching license with a Visually Impaired endorsement or certification (or eligibility for certification)
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and assistive technology
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students’ visual needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor progress on IEP goals for students with visual impairments
  • Provide assessment and evaluation to determine students’ needs and appropriate supports
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, families, and other service providers
  • Facilitate access to learning materials, including adapting resources into accessible formats
  • Advise on the use of assistive technology and train students in its effective use
  • Support students’ independence, social-emotional development, and inclusion within the school community
