Bringing your expertise to a flexible 5-hour per week schedule, you will deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments. While onsite support is preferred to foster strong connections with students and staff, flexible virtual (VOCO) options are also available.
Your responsibilities will include assessing student needs, adapting curriculum materials, collaborating with general education teachers, and advocating for inclusive practices. You’ll have the chance to serve a diverse K-12 student population, supporting their educational goals for the 2026-2027 academic year (tentative dates: August 24, 2026 – June 3, 2027).
Ideal candidates bring:
- Current and active Michigan teaching license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (verify credentials at the Michigan Department of Education website)
- Experience working with K-12 students, preferably with visual impairments
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Comfort with both onsite and virtual instruction (VOCO experience a bonus)
- Dedication to providing equitable educational opportunities and adapting resources to meet student needs
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education strategies for students who are visually impaired
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and staff
- Supporting general education staff in accommodations and modifications
