Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Lutherville Timonium, Maryland
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic Pre-K–12 environment. This contract role begins August 13, 2026, and offers the opportunity to work across approximately 12–15 school locations, providing vital services to a diverse caseload of 20–25 students. Flexible schedules ranging from early start to late morning are available, aligning with school hours.
Responsibilities include delivering specially designed instruction tailored to IEP goals, conducting ongoing assessments, developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with fellow TVIs, special and general education teachers, and offering direction and support to Braille Transcribers. You’ll serve as a crucial resource—consulting and collaborating to ensure each learner receives high-quality services, and actively participating in professional development and school initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Maryland Teacher Certification with TVI endorsement (or eligibility for certification; out-of-state candidates welcome and assisted through the licensure process via the Maryland State Department of Education’s TEACH Portal)
- Experience working with students from Pre-K through 12th grade, preferably in multi-site settings
- Proficiency in assessment, IEP development, and providing direct, individualized instruction
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to liaise with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to manage and support a flexible caseload across multiple school sites
