Inspire growth and independence in students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the upcoming academic year, starting August 13, 2026, through June 30, 2027—with the potential to extend into the summer and the following school year. You’ll serve a caseload of approximately 20-25 students, ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade, across multiple schools in the Windsor Mill, MD area. Work hours fall between 35-40 per week, with your specific schedule aligning with school hours (7:30-3:00, 8:00-3:30, or 9:00-4:00).
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Maryland teacher certification or licensure with an endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, or eligibility to begin certification (support provided for out-of-state candidates)
- Experience with or knowledge of delivering specially designed instruction on IEP goals
- Familiarity with assessment, IEP development/implementation, and collaboration with educational teams
- Comfort providing direction and support to Braille Transcribers
- Passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds, spanning early childhood through high school
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to IEP goals for students with visual impairments
- Conduct assessments and contribute to the development and execution of IEPs
- Collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, fellow TVIs, and Braille Transcribers
- Provide consultation and ongoing support regarding accessibility and inclusion throughout multiple school locations
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
