Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Owings Mills, MD

This contract position for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) offers an opportunity to support Pre-K through 12th grade students, delivering tailored instruction and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary educational teams.
This assignment runs from August 18, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with a weekly commitment of 35-40 hours. Work schedules vary depending on the school, typically falling between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. On average, you’ll manage a caseload of 20-25 students across school assignments to be determined. You’ll have access to a school-provided laptop and a supportive staff.
Qualifications:
- Current Maryland teacher certification or licensure with TVI endorsement (required)
- Expertise in evaluating and serving students who are visually impaired from Pre-K through 12th grade
- Experience providing specially designed instruction as outlined in IEPs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, families, and support personnel
- Ability to adapt to varied environments and student needs
- Must be available for in-person work; virtual/hybrid arrangements are not available
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ vision-related needs
- Deliver individualized and group instruction according to each student’s IEP
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify materials and implement accommodations
- Engage with families and staff to support student progress
- Maintain detailed records of student services and outcomes
