Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid and current teaching credential/licensure for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with school-aged students who are blind or have low vision is highly valued
  • Proficiency with braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive resources
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Willingness to work in a full-time, extended school year (FSY) contract setting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
  • Assess student needs and tailor adaptations and instructional strategies accordingly
  • Serve as a resource to school personnel and participate in multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop and monitor progress toward specialized learning goals
  • Support and train staff and families in the use of assistive technology and adapted materials
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines
