Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
• Valid state teaching certification with endorsement for teaching visually impaired students
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
• Strong understanding of Braille, orientation and mobility techniques, assistive technology, and visual adaptation strategies
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills for collaborating with families, staff, and support teams
• Ability to adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, both in inclusive classroom settings and one-on-one environments
• Assess student needs and progress, adapting educational plans as necessary
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure appropriate supports
• Develop and provide accessible instructional materials, including Braille and large print resources
• Support students in developing skills for independence, daily living, and orientation/mobility as needed
• Contribute to IEP meetings and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
