Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment or relevant endorsement
• Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably within a school setting
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive educational strategies
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
• Compassion, patience, and creativity in tailoring individualized learning approaches

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of adaptive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
• Provide training and resources to staff and families to best support students’ educational and developmental goals
• Track progress and document student outcomes to ensure goals are met
