Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, with an endorsement in Visual Impairment
• Valid teaching certification for visually impaired students
• Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings
• Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to inclusive education

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student’s unique needs
• Deliver specialized instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support classroom inclusion and accommodations
• Evaluate students’ progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
• Advocate for accessible materials and environments that enable students to fully participate in school activities
• Provide guidance and training to faculty and family members to further student independence
• Monitor and document student outcomes in accordance with district and state requirements
