Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairments or Orientation and Mobility (as required by state guidelines)
- Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students in a K-12 setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and accessible instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt materials and lessons to accommodate a range of learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in Braille and the use of adaptive technology
- Work alongside general education teachers to ensure classroom accessibility
- Offer training and guidance to staff and family members to promote best practices in support of visually impaired students
- Assess student progress and adjust strategies to maximize growth and achievement
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community
