Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Proficiency in Braille and experience as a Braillist required
  • Prior experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and utilize assistive technology for visually impaired learners
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with educational teams and families

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in school-based settings
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) and support students’ access to the general curriculum
  • Prepare, transcribe, and adapt learning materials into Braille and accessible formats
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to foster student success
  • Assess student progress and adjust interventions as needed
