Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Proficiency in Braille and experience as a Braillist required
- Prior experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
- Ability to adapt curriculum and utilize assistive technology for visually impaired learners
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educational teams and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in school-based settings
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) and support students’ access to the general curriculum
- Prepare, transcribe, and adapt learning materials into Braille and accessible formats
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to foster student success
- Assess student progress and adjust interventions as needed
