Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Special Education, with certification in teaching students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in Braille transcription, instruction, and adaptive technology
- Experience providing classroom and individualized instruction to students with visual impairments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Organized, adaptable, and committed to developing accessible learning materials
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in core subjects, life skills, and literacy, incorporating Braille and assistive technology as needed
- Conduct assessments to identify student strengths, needs, and appropriate accommodations
- Adapt curriculum resources to facilitate accessibility and independence for visually impaired learners
- Provide Braille materials and ensure classroom modifications support all learners
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and family members to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Offer professional guidance and training for staff regarding best practices in supporting visually impaired students
