Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Special Education, with certification in teaching students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency in Braille transcription, instruction, and adaptive technology
  • Experience providing classroom and individualized instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Organized, adaptable, and committed to developing accessible learning materials

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction in core subjects, life skills, and literacy, incorporating Braille and assistive technology as needed
  • Conduct assessments to identify student strengths, needs, and appropriate accommodations
  • Adapt curriculum resources to facilitate accessibility and independence for visually impaired learners
  • Provide Braille materials and ensure classroom modifications support all learners
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and family members to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Offer professional guidance and training for staff regarding best practices in supporting visually impaired students
