What You’ll Bring:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI)
- Proven experience providing direct and consultative instruction in reading, writing, and adaptive techniques for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with a variety of assessment tools and instructional modifications
- Capacity to effectively teach students across elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Experience with relevant state and district standards and legal requirements
What You'll Do:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting methods and materials to fit individual needs
- Assess and document student achievement using both formal and informal evaluations
- Prepare and actively participate in ARD meetings
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations and modifications within the general education environment
- Monitor and document progress, updating IEP goals as needed
- Work closely with general and special education staff and related service providers
- Maintain compliance with district requirements and best practices in special education
