What you’ll bring:
- Valid certification as a Visually Impaired Teacher (VI Teacher)
- Demonstrated understanding of specialized instructional methods for students with visual impairments, tailored to district requirements
- Experience working with a variety of age groups, ideally in a school setting
- Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments using both formal and informal tools to track student progress
- Collaborative nature—comfortable preparing for and participating in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) or relevant individualized education meetings
- Strong communication skills for partnership with colleagues, families, and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, adaptive instruction to visually impaired students in inclusive and resource settings
- Implement district-approved VI-specific methods and strategies to foster student success
- Continuously evaluate and monitor student achievement, making necessary adjustments to IEP goals and teaching practices
- Prepare documentation and reports, and attend all required ARD meetings
- Foster a nurturing, accessible learning atmosphere for students with a range of needs
