Key Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization for Visual Impairments OR a California teaching credential with the ability to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Prior experience supporting visually impaired students in an educational environment is highly valued
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, families, and students
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and materials as needed
- Perform functional vision assessments and make recommendations to support student learning
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals specific to each student’s visual needs
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning environments
- Foster independence, self-advocacy, and confidence in students through specialized instruction
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of student progress
Experience working on-site is required, as this is not a virtual or hybrid position.
