Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain one
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or closely related position in school environments
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities for collaboration with parents, staff, and related service providers
  • Demonstrated commitment to individualized education and inclusive practices

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess and support the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and accommodations
  • Instruct students in Braille literacy, technology use, and independent living skills as required
  • Consult with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate accessible learning environments
  • Participate in IEP meetings, maintaining required documentation and progress reports
  • Foster a positive, adaptive atmosphere for learners to build confidence and independence
