Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Braillist
- Strong proficiency in Braille reading and transcription
- Experience adapting classroom materials for visually impaired students
- Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) in partnership with educators and families
- Knowledge of assistive technology for low vision and blind students
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Prior experience in a school or educational setting preferred
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in Braille literacy and use of adaptive devices
- Modify curriculum and develop accessible learning materials
- Provide direct support to students, fostering independence and confidence
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement IEPs
