Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Comprehensive understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies for visual impairment
- Previous experience working with children or youth who are visually impaired preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Ability to manage an itinerant schedule efficiently and effectively
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and independence for every student
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in cooperation with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate accommodations or modifications
- Serve as an educational resource for staff, students, and families on best practices and available technologies
- Travel between school sites to deliver specialized support in diverse educational environments
