As an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you'll play a pivotal role in guiding students, collaborating with staff, and adapting lessons to individual needs.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid credential or certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies, Braille instruction, and accessible educational materials
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and educational teams
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites as part of your itinerary
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ individual needs and develop targeted educational plans to foster growth and independence
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Support general education teachers and staff with strategies for inclusion and ensuring accessibility
- Adapt educational materials and environments for optimal access and participation
- Maintain clear communication with families and multidisciplinary teams to monitor progress and provide updates
