Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement for teaching visually impaired students (TVI credential)
- Previous school-based experience as a TVI or comparable role
- In-depth knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to assist general education staff and IEP teams
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support to K-12 students who are blind or visually impaired
- Assess students' needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum materials and facilitate access to classroom content
- Train staff and family members on blindness-specific strategies, technologies, and resources
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations, modifications, and inclusive practices across school settings
- Maintain thorough documentation and data for tracking student progress and compliance
