By collaborating with educators, support staff, and families, you'll help create accessible learning opportunities and empower young learners to achieve their fullest potential.
What you bring:
- Valid certification for teaching students with visual impairments (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in school settings
- Familiarity with adaptive technologies, Braille, and large print materials
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adaptability and resourcefulness to support students with varying needs
Role responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, low vision devices, and assistive technology
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt curriculum and learning environments
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, making recommendations for accommodations
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and actively participate in IEP meetings
- Educate staff and peers about visual impairments and promote inclusion
