What You’ll Do:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support services to K-12 students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt classroom materials, technology, and teaching strategies
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ goals
- Provide orientation and mobility training and assistive technology recommendations
- Consult with families, school staff, and related service providers to facilitate inclusion and progress
- Stay current with best practices, compliance requirements, and assistive technology advancements
Desired Background:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Impairment, Special Education, or related field
- Experience with K-12 students in school settings preferred
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and inclusive teaching strategies
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles and accessibility needs
