Empower students’ educational journeys as a full-time, in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic school setting near the scenic Marina area. As an integral part of a supportive educational team, you will work on an itinerant basis, providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments across various schools.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification and credentials as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working in school settings with K-12 students preferred
- Strong foundation in teaching students with diverse visual needs, including Braille instruction
- Ability to travel between schools as part of an itinerant schedule
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and related service providers
- Proficient with adaptive technology and tools specific to visual impairments
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments in various classroom environments
- Conducting assessments and developing appropriate educational plans, accommodations, and modifications
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt materials and curriculum for accessibility
- Providing direct training and consultation for staff on best practices for inclusion and support of visually impaired students
- Supporting students’ orientation and mobility skills, and promoting independence and self-advocacy
- Maintaining clear records and ongoing communication regarding student progress
