Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong background in adapting curriculum and materials for students with visual impairments
- Experience working with students of varied ages and abilities in school settings
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a flexible, travel-based schedule to serve multiple school sites
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments across schools in the area
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, staff, and families to ensure accessible educational opportunities
- Adapt learning materials and classroom environments to meet students’ specific needs
- Conduct assessments and help develop IEPs, tracking progress and adjusting instruction as needed
- Provide guidance and training on assistive devices and specialized technology
- Serve as an advocate and resource to staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
