Qualifications & Background:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or certification required
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in K-12 settings
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies, Braille, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Ability to manage and prioritize the needs of a varied caseload effectively
- Commitment to onsite service delivery (virtual/VOCO not available for this role)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction for students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Develop and implement IEPs with input from multidisciplinary teams and parents
- Assess students’ progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving learning needs
- Teach Braille and use of adaptive tools/technologies
- Collaborate closely with classroom educators, aides, and therapists
- Document interventions, maintain accurate records, and report on student progress
- Provide support and resources to families and school staff regarding accessibility and inclusion
