Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or equivalent credential (for TVI role).
- Proficiency in braille transcription, with strong knowledge of tactile materials, formats, and adaptive technology (for Braillist role).
- Previous experience working with students who are blind or have low vision highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educational teams, students, and families.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple student caseloads or assignments.
- Commitment to promoting independence, access, and advocacy for students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in classroom and resource settings.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies to support student access to the curriculum.
- Create, transcribe, and adapt learning materials into braille or other accessible formats.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure best practices and continuity of support.
- Contribute to IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and data collection as required.
- Support training on assistive technologies and adaptive equipment.
