Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for teaching roles.
- Proficiency in braille and braille transcription for brailler positions.
- Experience adapting and modifying curriculum for students with visual impairments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families.
- Prior experience in educational settings preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs for students with visual impairments.
- Provide direct instruction in core curriculum and assistive technology skills.
- Adapt classroom materials and tests into accessible formats using braille or tactile materials.
- Consult with classroom teachers and other school staff to support student accommodations.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- For brailler positions: Transcribe instructional materials into braille and other accessible formats as needed.
