Openings include both an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Brailler, with flexibility for candidates interested in either position. Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification and credentials for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI), or relevant qualifications and experience for Braillers
- Previous experience in educational settings, especially with visually impaired students, preferred
- Proficiency in braille instruction, transcription, and creation of accessible learning materials
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and tools for students with visual impairments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized educational programs for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in braille literacy, orientation, mobility, and adaptive technology as appropriate
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to adapt curriculum and learning resources
- Produce braille and tactile materials to ensure accessibility
- Track student progress, complete required documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for students’ needs and promote an environment of respect and inclusion
