Key Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certification for the Visually Impaired (MI TVI License)
- Experience or interest in working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Knowledge of adaptive technology and curriculum modification strategies
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility in managing a varied caseload
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students with visual impairments in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt instructional materials and classroom environments
- Assess student needs and track progress to inform appropriate teaching strategies
- Offer recommendations for assistive technologies and accessible instructional resources
- Support families and staff through training and ongoing communication regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate records and report on student outcomes
