Required Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with children or youth who are blind or visually impaired
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional techniques
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Passion for promoting confidence, self-advocacy, and independence in students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and consultation services for students with visual impairments
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, aides, and related service providers
  • Adapt classroom materials and curriculum to meet each student's unique needs
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP development and documentation
  • Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding visual impairment and accessibility
