As the designated TVI, you will work approximately 8 hours per week (0.2 FTE), collaborating with educators and families to adapt curriculum, develop individualized strategies, and foster inclusion for students with visual impairments. Your insights and advocacy will play a pivotal role in shaping accessible classroom experiences and enhancing student confidence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairments (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Proven experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong skills in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessible instructional materials (e.g., Braille, large print, audio resources)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to visually impaired students in accordance with IEP goals
- Create, modify, and implement lesson plans utilizing adapted materials and technology
- Partner with general education teachers to design accessible classroom activities and assessments
- Provide training and recommendations on assistive tools, accommodations, and best practices
- Monitor progress through consistent data collection and feedback, adjusting instruction as needed
- Engage with families and multidisciplinary teams to foster comprehensive student support
