1:1 Elementary Assistive Technology Therapist Specialist in Oxnard, CA

A full-time opportunity is available for an experienced Assistive Technology Specialist to provide 1:1 support at the elementary school level. This position focuses on facilitating access to learning for students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and other assistive technology tools.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM (32.5 hours per week).
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working directly with students utilizing AAC devices in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of assistive technology (AT) solutions that support communication and instructional access
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to tailor support for individual student needs
- Knowledge of best practices in adapting curriculum or classroom materials for students with varying communication needs
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for fostering student independence and participation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized, 1:1 support to an elementary student using AAC devices, ensuring effective daily communication
- Implement and monitor individualized technology-based strategies to enhance engagement and learning
- Troubleshoot and maintain AAC and AT devices, providing training and technical assistance as necessary
- Work closely with educational teams to track student progress and contribute to IEP goal setting and achievement
- Adapt activities, instructional materials, and environmental supports based on the student’s evolving needs
