1:1 Elementary Assistive Technology Therapist Specialist in Van Nuys, CA

Make a meaningful impact by supporting elementary students as an Assistive Technology Specialist in a full-time, contract role. In this position, you’ll work one-on-one with students in a dynamic educational environment, ensuring they have access to the communication tools and technology they need to fully participate at school.
Hours for this opportunity are Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM – 2:15 PM, totaling 32.5 hours each week.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience as an Assistive Technology Specialist in an educational setting
- Proven ability to support students using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Solid understanding of a range of assistive technology (AT) tools that foster communication and access to instruction
- Comfort and skill in working 1:1 with elementary-age learners
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with teachers, therapists, and other school staff
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt to students’ individual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 support to students who require AAC and other assistive technology for communication and learning
- Guide and educate classroom staff on the effective use of AAC devices and assistive technology tools
- Consult and collaborate with a multidisciplinary school team to develop and implement technology-based support strategies
- Track student progress with AAC/AT implementation and maintain detailed documentation
- Troubleshoot and maintain devices, and recommend updates or changes as needed
