Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proven experience supporting students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Strong understanding of a variety of assistive technology (AT) tools for communication and instructional access
- Background working with elementary-age students in educational or therapeutic settings
- Ability to effectively collaborate with educators, therapists, and families
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt technology solutions to meet individual student needs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support for elementary students using AAC and other assistive technology devices
- Assess individual student needs and recommend appropriate AT tools to promote communication and learning
- Train students, staff, and families on effective use of AAC and AT equipment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, SLPs, and other team members to integrate assistive technology into daily instruction
- Monitor progress, troubleshoot devices, and adjust support as students’ needs evolve
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student services and technology implementation
