Qualifications & Experience:
- Massachusetts Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification/License required.
- Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff.
- Familiarity with adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and accessible materials.
- Passion for supporting students’ independence and academic potential.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in visual efficiency, Braille, and adaptive skills to K-12 students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and promote accessibility.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address each student’s unique learning needs.
- Advise and consult with families and staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired students.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, assessments, and communication.
- Stay informed on the latest resources and technology for visual impairments.
