Ideal candidates have a strong background working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and bring both expertise and empathy to their work. You'll collaborate closely with school staff, families, and related service providers to ensure the student receives comprehensive educational access and support.
Qualifications:
- Active, valid licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience supporting students in school settings, preferably working 1:1
- Knowledge of assistive technology and Braille
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- A commitment to fostering student independence and success
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a 9th grade student with visual impairments
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the unique needs of the individual
- Monitor progress and document student achievement in adherence with IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Implement and train on appropriate assistive technology and Braille materials
- Advocate for and facilitate full participation of the student in academic and extracurricular activities
